IMA2017 Exhibition will present the works of the twenty-four first-year undergraduates of the Inter-Media Art course. This year's exhibition title, IMA, is taken from the initials of the Inter-Media Art course. This year's exhibition will be the second year since 2016 for first-year students to exhibit their works in public at Ueno.
While Tokyo Geidai celebrates the 130th founding anniversary, this year sees the nineteenth cohort of student entering the Inter-Media Art course. We all have resided in different provinces and countries, however the course has now gathered us in Ueno to gain new experiences and achievements. By creating artworks based on our personal experience, we strive to re-examine the relationship between society, individuals, and the self.
Through this exhibition, we hope you will have a glimpse of what kind of perspective we, twenty-your first-year students, have toward art and our daily lives, and also what the Inter-Media Art course is achieving in contemporary art.
